This morning we visited a fish market before leaving Hawassa.
Locals catch fish then clean and fillet it. At nearby stalls locals come to eat all sorts of "fishy" dishes at makeshift cafes overlooking the water.
The drive to Wondo Genet took us through beautiful green hills.
We reached Wondo Genet by lunchtime and after some fries and a coke (easiest to order!) we headed off for a walk up into the forest. This provided beautiful views of the valley below but was quite hard going with the heat. We walked for about 2 hours and Tia did a fantastic job as it was on pretty steep and unmade paths. Thank goodness for our guide!
There are natural hot springs here, the source of which we saw at the end of our walk and they feed into cement hot spring pools. The location here is really beautiful with lush vegetation all around. Very different from anything we have seen in Ethiopia so far.
Tia and I enjoyed a dip in the hot springs pool with the locals whilst Fitz and Yared had a massage "Ethiopian style" !
After a comfy night in the Wabi Shebele Hotel we drove back to Addis to prepare for our solo travels north.
