Lalibela street kids' home

DAY 21

View Ethiopia on tia-saz-fitz's travel map.

World Families Australia purchased a small house in Lalibela to help some of the 1500 shockingly young homeless kids who eke out a living on the streets, mainly as shoe shiners.
15 boys and girls share the small house, have a lady cooking for them and are helped in gaining an education.
We visited the house to deliver some clothing and writing materials donated by Our Lady Star of The Sea parents and also a cash donation from Paulin at the Cottage by the Sea.
They are wonderful, appreciative and happy kids living a life of survival that most in Australia would not comprehend.
The 3 teenage boys in Bahir Dar who received the donated laptop lived in this house and worked as shoe shiners on the streets before being given the chance to extend their education in a bigger town with more opportunities.

A big thanks to the Our Lady Star of the Sea parents and to Paulin at The Cottage by the Sea !
