Simien Mountains

DAY 18

View Ethiopia on tia-saz-fitz's travel map.

An early start saw us heading up into the the beautiful and impressive Simien Mountains to the north east of Gondar with our driver Mulu.
We bought our ticket at the National Park headquarters and collected a local guide and a guard with a rifle to protect against hyenas.

We had a lovely walk, saw many Gelada baboons and bought some local craft from a horde of little kids who set up an instant hilltop shop.

At the suggestion of his Mum, Fitz carried the FitzGerald family coat of arms to the highest hill to commemorate his father who would have loved the scenery.
We felt he was walking it with us.
